Hector’s Hardware & Paint Co is a dependable hardware store in Buffalo that earns praise for friendly service and knowledgeable help. On Harlem Road, this neighborhood shop makes it easy to pick up paint supplies, tools, gardening items, and everyday repair essentials without the frustration of a huge warehouse store. Customers often mention being greeted right away and offered assistance by staff who are professional, attentive, and willing to take the time to help figure out exactly what’s needed.
What makes Hector’s especially appealing is the level of personal care. Shoppers describe a team that goes beyond simply selling products by offering small fixes, practical recommendations, and honest advice for projects around the house or yard. That kind of service is a big reason locals prefer it over larger chains. Whether you need tools, parts, insect repellent, or guidance for your next project, this home improvement store delivers convenience with a personal touch. Staff was very helpful and polite.
Love hectors. The staff is always so friendly and so knowledgeable. They always have and know what I’m looking for.
Usually, the younger employees in the store are very helpful. Today, I came in with a minor problem, and they suggested a solution by selling me a hose and specifically told me to bring it back if it didn’t work. I returned about 15 minutes later because the hose wasn’t the right fit and I either needed an additional part or wanted to return it. This time, an older gentleman helped me and refused the return, saying that because the package had been opened, it couldn’t be returned. The problem is that the only way to determine whether the hose would work was to open it and try it. I brought back the hose, every piece of the original packaging, and my receipt. The packaging wasn’t damaged—it had only been secured with ties that I carefully removed. What was especially frustrating was that I had been told by another employee just minutes earlier that I could return it if it didn’t work. Being told one thing and then having an older gentleman refuse the return with a completely different explanation felt misleading. The hose wasn’t expensive, but it’s the principle of the situation. I spend a lot of money at this store and have exchanged or returned parts there many times without issue. It’s disappointing to receive inconsistent customer service. They are conveniently located in my neighborhood, but experiences like this make me consider driving a few extra minutes to shop elsewhere.
