ABV Website Terms
Terms of Use
Understand the rules for using ABV, submitting information,
and connecting with independently operated HVAC businesses.
Last updated: October 16, 2026
1. About These Terms
These Terms of Use describe the rules for using www.ab-v.com and the website features made available by ABV. References to “ABV,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of this website.
Please read these terms before using the website. If you do not agree with them, do not use ABV. If a particular feature requires you to accept additional terms, review those terms before using that feature.
If you act for a business or another organization, you must have authority to submit its information or make commitments on its behalf. Nothing in these terms limits rights that applicable law does not allow to be waived.
2. ABV’s Role
ABV provides an HVAC business directory and informational guides, with a focus on New York State. The website helps visitors explore businesses, service categories, and information relevant to HVAC projects.
ABV does not perform the HVAC work described in directory listings. Listed businesses operate independently and are responsible for their own services, representations, personnel, and dealings with customers.
A listing, category, rating, search position, or link does not by itself establish that ABV has verified a business’s qualifications, insurance, licensing, or suitability for your project. A listing is not a guarantee or an endorsement of the business’s work.
3. Listings and Business Information
Directory information may come from public business sources, third-party data, business representatives, or other submitted information. Details can change, and errors or omissions can occur.
Confirm contact details, location, services offered, availability, and qualifications directly with a business before relying on a listing. A category label is a browsing aid; it does not confirm that a business currently offers every service described within that category.
To report an error, use our Contact Us page and include the listing link and the information that needs attention. We may request supporting information or evidence that you are authorized to request a change. Submitting a correction or claim does not automatically update, remove, or transfer control of a listing.
4. Dealing with Listed Businesses
You decide which businesses to contact or hire. Discuss the scope of work, written estimates, permits, qualifications, insurance, timing, warranties, payment terms, and cancellation arrangements directly with the business.
Unless a separate agreement expressly states otherwise, ABV is not a party to your contract with a listed business and does not set its prices, schedule its work, collect its service payments, or guarantee its performance.
Questions about a business’s work, charges, or warranties should be raised with that business. You can also report a related listing issue to ABV. This does not prevent you from using other complaint channels or legal remedies available to you.
5. Guides and Safety Information
ABV guides provide general information to help visitors understand HVAC topics and prepare questions for a qualified professional. They are not a site inspection, a diagnosis, a project-specific design, or a substitute for professional advice.
Requirements can vary by property, equipment, manufacturer, and jurisdiction. Check the applicable requirements and obtain qualified help before acting on technical information. Do not undertake work that requires qualifications, permits, or specialist tools you do not have.
ABV is not an emergency service. If there is an immediate safety risk, contact the appropriate emergency service or utility through its established emergency channel. Do not use the ABV contact form to request urgent help.
6. Accounts and Business Submissions
If account registration, listing submission, or listing claims are available, provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date. Protect your sign-in details and tell us if you believe someone has accessed your account without authorization.
Submit or claim a business listing only when you own the business or have permission to act for it. Do not misrepresent a business’s address, services, credentials, ownership, or relationship with ABV.
We may review submissions, request clarification, and decline or correct content that is inaccurate, misleading, outside the directory’s scope, or inconsistent with these terms. Submission does not guarantee publication, a particular position, traffic, leads, or sales.
If paid listing or promotional services are offered, their price, duration, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms must be presented separately before purchase. These website terms do not establish a paid plan or an automatic renewal arrangement.
7. Reviews and Other Contributions
Where reviews or other public contributions are accepted, submit truthful information that reflects your own experience. Distinguish opinions from factual claims. Disclose relevant relationships with a business and any incentive received.
Do not submit fabricated experiences, impersonate another person, manipulate ratings, or offer incentives that depend on a review being positive or negative. Do not include threats, unlawful content, or another person’s private information without an appropriate basis.
Honest criticism is permitted. A negative opinion alone is not a reason to remove a review. We may moderate content for relevant reasons such as spam, impersonation, unlawful material, privacy violations, or deceptive activity. Nothing in these terms penalizes you for a lawful, honest review or for reporting a concern to an authority.
Third-party reviews or ratings displayed through another provider may be governed by that provider’s rules. Their display does not mean ABV independently verified the underlying experience.
8. Acceptable Use
Use ABV lawfully and respect other visitors, businesses, and the website’s operation. You must not:
- Use the website for fraud, impersonation, harassment, or unlawful discrimination.
- Submit spam, malicious code, deceptive links, or unsolicited bulk messages.
- Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or nonpublic information.
- Bypass access controls, disrupt the website, or place an unreasonable load on its systems.
- Collect personal information from the website for unlawful marketing, harassment, or other unlawful purposes.
- Copy, republish, or commercially exploit protected content without the permission or legal right required to do so.
These rules do not prohibit lawful linking, ordinary search-engine indexing, authorized use of a data interface, or uses permitted by applicable law.
9. Content Ownership and Permissions
Original ABV text, design, branding, and other protected materials are subject to applicable intellectual property rights. Business names, logos, photographs, reviews, and third-party data remain subject to the rights of their respective owners.
You may browse ABV, bookmark pages, and share links. Any copying or reuse of protected material must be permitted by the rights holder or by law. Attribution alone does not replace permission where permission is required.
You retain ownership of content you submit. For content you intentionally submit for public display, you grant ABV a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, reproduce, format, display, and moderate it as reasonably needed to operate the website. Service providers may process that content for those purposes. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content or authorize unrelated use of it.
Private support messages are not covered by this public-display permission. Their handling is described in our Privacy Policy. To report a rights concern, provide the relevant page link, identify the material, and explain the right you believe is affected.
10. Advertising and External Links
Where advertising, paid placements, or affiliate links are used, their commercial nature should be identified near the relevant content. Payment for placement does not establish that a business is suitable for a particular project.
Links to other websites are provided to help visitors find relevant information or contact businesses. External websites operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Review those terms before providing information, making a payment, or entering an agreement.
ABV does not control changes to external websites or the promises made by third-party advertisers. This does not limit any responsibility ABV has under applicable law for its own content or conduct.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information associated with website use, contact requests, and available features is handled, and describes relevant privacy choices.
Accepting these Terms of Use is not, by itself, consent to optional advertising or analytics cookies. Where a separate privacy choice or consent is required, it must be handled through the applicable notice or control.
12. Website Availability and Access
Features and content may be updated, maintained, or discontinued. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or permanent availability of every page or feature.
We may restrict an account or remove content where reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, a security risk, unlawful activity, or a legal obligation. Where appropriate and practicable, we will provide an explanation and a way to contact us about the decision.
Restrictions must respect applicable law and any separate service agreement. They must not be used to punish lawful, honest criticism. You can contact us if you believe an action affecting your account, submission, or listing was mistaken.
13. Disclaimers and Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its general information are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without a promise that they will meet every user’s needs or be complete, accurate, or current in every respect.
To the extent permitted by law, ABV is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or business opportunities, arising from use of the website or reliance on general directory information.
These provisions do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. They do not remove statutory consumer rights or protections. Where a restriction is not permitted by the law that applies to you, that restriction does not apply to that extent.
14. Concerns and Legal Rights
If you have a concern about ABV, you may contact [email protected] with the relevant page link and a description of the issue. We can review website matters and explain the steps available to address them.
Contacting us is not a prerequisite to exercising a legal right or reporting a concern to a regulator. Applicable law determines which legal remedies and courts are available. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or waive the right to bring a claim where the law permits it.
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms to reflect changes to the website, its features, or applicable requirements. The “Last updated” date identifies the latest revision.
Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate website notice or, where relevant, another available contact method. Where applicable law or a separate agreement requires affirmative acceptance, we will seek that acceptance before applying the relevant change. Updates will not remove rights that have already arisen where the law protects them.
