Avoid at all cost!! Overpriced and careless management!! At the time of writing this they charged ~$175/hr for the plumber plus another ~$90/hr for a helper (which is not optional they send them regardless of the job) - so in total they charge over $250 per hour. If that isnt bad enough - THEY CHARGE YOU FOR THE TIME IT TAKES TO GO PICK UP PARTS WHICH CAN TAKE HOURS. They only charge for up to one hour but they should not be charging for this at all!! We scheduled a week out and they lost our appointment and never showed up day of. Had to call to “reschedule” them to come the next day, and provide all the details of the job again! The workers who did the work were kind and did a good job. But this was not worth the headache of working with this company. GO WITH ANY OTHER PLUMBER THAN FRED SMITH!
One star. We disputed an invoice because the work described was not actually performed and the materials charge was unsupported. Instead of simply reviewing the documentation, Gustavo Linzan accused me of trying to avoid payment and threatened to place a lien on my property. Another plumber later replaced the gasket Fred Smith claimed had already been replaced, and the leak was immediately resolved. Fred Smith ultimately wrote the invoice off. Billing disputes happen. Threatening customers before verifying whether the billed work was actually performed is unacceptable.
One of NYC most reputable and reliable plumbing companies.
DO NOT WORK WITH THEM - THEY ARE LIARS. Said they would have someone at the apartment at 9 AM - my super had the water shut off and then called them at 10 they said "lunchtime", my super proceeded to call them and they told him someone was on their way and then at 2 PM they tell me no one is coming.
Fred Smith Plumbing & Heating delivered reliable and professional service. They arrived on time, explained everything clearly, and completed the work efficiently. Very satisfied with the results and would definitely recommend.
