A significant negative experience involved poor handling during delivery, leading to damage such as chips and leaks in the refurbished radiators. This incident resulted in a stressful and costly situation for the customer.
Thomas is absolutely superb and the showroom is fantastic! The radiators are beautiful and of truly exceptional quality.
We cannot say enough positive things about Castrads in SoHo! John Docharty is incredibly knowledgeable, honest, and kind. We had very little understanding of cast iron radiators (and related valves / accessories) and John patiently walked us through all the details. John is a joy to work with! We purchased multiple Windsor control valves and one-pipe steam thermostatic valves. These are even more beautiful in person than in the photos. Our plumber was surprised at how much nicer these Castrads valves are than the valves they typically work with. Castrads’ radiators in store are also gorgeous. The colors are super fun! Pricing is very reasonable. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. We feel fortunate to know John!

After a very long cold winter, Castrads team (big shout out to Madison) made the process of refurbishing my radiator seamless. Madison always picked up the phone when I called and walked me through the process at whatever stage we were at. I just got my radiator back and it went from dirty, haunted looking piece of machinery to a functional, decorative enhancement to my living space. Highly recommended!!
I had a very disappointing experience with Castrads and cannot recommend them. I hired Castrads to refurbish three cast iron radiators. The order cost $3,486.01, plus delivery. The first return already had a serious problem: the valve spuds had been painted/coated, which prevented the radiators from being reinstalled. The radiators then had to be returned to Castrads. During the second delivery on September 16, 2025, the radiators were delivered without proper protective wrapping or separation. I have video and photos showing the radiators in direct contact with one another during delivery. The delivery cart lost control and struck the curb, causing the heavy cast iron radiators to collide. Immediately afterward, all three radiators had visible impact damage, including chips, gouges, exposed metal, abrasions, and scuff marks. Castrads later acknowledged in writing that the damage “does look as though it’s happened in transit.” However, when the large radiator subsequently developed leaks, Castrads denied responsibility and relied on their refurbishment-risk terms. They offered to refund only the original refurbishment amount, but only if I agreed to release them from any further responsibility for the damage. I did not accept those conditions, and the refund was never issued. In my view, this was not just ordinary refurbishment risk. The delivery handling was careless, the radiators were not properly protected, and the resulting damage has left me with a leaking large radiator and additional replacement/removal/reinstallation costs. This has been a long, stressful, and costly experience. Based on my experience, I would not use Castrads again.
