A quality store with tremendous value. Easy to shop at, well stocked.
Usually I really enjoy shopping at this location, but I had a very unpleasant experience here last week because of the way a staff member spoke to me. I was looking for a lightweight tool, so I briefly picked up one of the display tools to get a sense of its weight. A staff member walked by and loudly told me that I was not allowed to take it down. I immediately apologized and explained that I didn’t know and that I would put it back. I also explained that I was simply trying to feel how heavy it was. The staff member told me that I should check the weight on the product packaging instead. I said okay and went to look for the package, but there wasn’t one available on the sales floor. For this particular item, customers take a small paper slip, and the actual product is brought out by staff from the back. So from a customer’s perspective, this was quite frustrating. I couldn’t see the product packaging to check the weight, and apparently I also wasn’t allowed to briefly pick up the display model to feel its weight. It seemed like the only way I could actually find out whether the tool was light enough for me was after purchasing it. I completely understand that the store may have rules about handling display items, and I’m happy to follow them once they are explained to me. What made this experience upsetting was the way the staff member spoke to me. A polite explanation would have been more than enough. There was no need to loudly call me out or make me feel like I had done something seriously wrong when I simply didn’t know the rule and apologized immediately. I’ve generally had good experiences at this location, which is why this interaction was especially disappointing. I hope staff can communicate store policies to customers in a more respectful and helpful way.
